Meaning: For some reason when I use F14 for a key command it just shows some strange little square made up of dots but it still maps F14 to the command when I exit the Key Command preferences. Whereas if I use F13 it shows the little dot square next to F13 and works as usual. I know in Pro Tools we have to disable a few system-wide key commands to get things working smoothly. Hey, thanks so much for your time man. Very nice of you.
That's what I get, the square made out of dots right next to F Like it's set to default. In the box that says "key" again F13 is already there, but it's greyed out and it doesn't let me click in the box to change it. Ok, I was able to type in the "key" box, but I tried a bunch of different unused KC's and I can't get rid of the square made of dots thingy, which seems to be the problem.
To assign the key to something new click Learn by Key Label and tap whichever key you want to use and that should change what you see in the grey-out box that says Key. So you're actually changing what it's the box by pressing key and not typing it into the box, if you know what I mean? That threw me for a bit as well Thanks man!

I got this from Ashernusic: Thanks Ashermusic! In the key commands, I assign a key command to Tap Tempo, i. In the project settings I change the sync to Manual and check Auto Enable external sync.
These are commands for quickly showing or hiding a certain tab in your main window. For example, press X to show the mixer or P to bring up the piano roll. Used to select similar tracks and regions. For example, tracks of the same color.
They will appear in the upper part of your arrangement window , as shown in the picture, and can be quickly accessed via the following key commands :. You can also move your markers around. These key commands can be used to alter MIDI regions rapidly, on the piano roll and on the main window.
Sometimes creating your own custom key commands or changing existing ones is better for your workflow. The process is pretty simple. There, you will find a list of all the key commands available inside Logic Pro. You can also use the Search tool on the upper right to find your desired command, as well as sort them by Used , Unused , etc.
On the section at the right of the window, you can change the key command for triggering each function , as well as change touch bar settings if your Mac has one and assign MIDI controls using the Learn New Assignment button.
